May Day Holiday

What a day, so busy and yet surprisingly very little to write down! We collected Charley and headed off early for a morning out. First into the garage to get air for the tyres and petrol for the journey - not sure why but Gawain insists on going surprising distances for our times out with the kids (well also for just us too but there is less problem with tetchy kids at those times!). Anyway we finally got under way, one or two little punch ups in the back and we were there at the Iceni Village in Cockley Cley - somewhere I had never heard of before but looked like fun. There were no other people about when we got there so we were looking forward to a nice morning wandering about alone (it did get busy but not so much that people were fighting over what to look at!).

Nice place, Alice and Charley had great fun, mind you they can be a little too inquisitive - at one point they were removing the bedding of one model to see what was wrong with her, finding out she had no arms was the cause for much questioning. They had a great time wondering about the difference items in each house before we set off on a little nature ramble - spotting swans, frogspawn, geese and lots of butterflies.
At another part of the display there was an old farmhouse complete with privy - much apreciated by the younger members of our group :) Outside of this there was a set of stocks, fantastic fun there, both kids strapped down - it took all of my effort not to just wander away and come back for them later. I think they both enjoyed themselves but we were glad to get back home as the whining had started towards the end of the visit.

This afternoon Alice and I were invited to have a sauna with my parents. Alice was very scared that if her pores opened while in the sauna it was going to cause her much pain so she was very reluctant - once she got in though she had a whale of a time, especially when it came to washing down with cold water. She just loved washing me and freezing me, good though left us with a sort of glowing warmth afterwards which was very nice.

Ok so maybe more than I was expecting to write there. Now I'm just sitting down having an evening snack before watching ER and then heading to bed!
